Volvo has two Polestar models, but both of them are four cylinder hybrids and one of them is a crossover. I still love Volvo for what they stand for and think they make beautiful cars, but they aren’t as quirky as they used to be and they certainly don’t cater to the enthusiast market as well as Toyota/Lexus.

My 2018 Volvo XC60 has been to two dealerships, three times since May 2023 with AC issues (blowing hot air). Condenser and a valve was replaced on two separate occasions but got word today that the first two diagnoses were wrong and my evaporator is leaking.

Those would be actual five cylinder turbos. They’re good but if you want maximum reliability from a modern Volvo, the non-turbo 2.4 (170bhp) is the one to go for. They’re understressed and you don’t really have to check anything other than the maintenence, timing belt/water pump replacement, and possibly the PCV.

The S60 is the car that’s currently built at Volvo’s factory in South Carolina. The factory employees have a lease program to get any car they want at a pretty steep discount for a year, and the S60 is the least-expensive car to get on that program due to no import taxes paid.

Yesterday I bought a new 2024 Volvo XC60 Recharge. It is my first PHEV and I have been confused by the options for charging. The cable set provided by Volvo has two interchangeable connectors for a wall outlet. One connector is for the standard 110v three prong outlet. It works but it is obviously very slow.

Volvo has stated that the optimization has the ability to make the torque distribution rear-bias while in dynamic mode. I'm not exactly sure what the split is, but I have to imagine you can feel the difference on twisty roads. I haven't driven a Polestar from after 2018 (when they added this) so I can't really say how it feels.

They use a Wet DPF which requires an fluid top up every 37k miles with replacement every 75k. the later D2 engines were reworked by volvo to include a more reliable dry DPF and improvements to the turbo oil feed lines which were known to starve the turbo of oil on the earlier 1.6d badged vehicles if they weren't serviced on the dot.

Yeah I got a promo deal on the lease,reasonable,I've owned maybe 10 volvo s 77 and upward,Im old ss dirt also had breif time model with steel body 60s year,don't recall model #, anyway wow I'd probably have lots more $$ stuffed in walls had I switch Reliable brand ,Toyota etc.and not comparing routine maintenance, spent 10s of thousands on repairs over last 40years,and did easy stuff mayself ...
