Also be sure the coolant expansion tank is perfect because this thing going bad is the death of many Saab v6. Overall, the minor increased expenses in some basic upkeep that you’ll have to do every few months on this car totally pays off. They are an absolute blast to drive, look amazing, and the Saab community pulls you into a cult lol.

The only recent Saab I would consider "unreliable" are 1987-1989 Saab 9000s with an automatic transmission. The early 4HP18 was not a good transmission by any measure. I had *many* of them, and few made it to 100,000 miles without some sort of major transmission issue. They got better in '90 and again in '93 or '94.

I have 2003 saab 9-5 aero with FA57C02 transmission and because of accident (fedex truck hit my car on the street parking) I have to replace the transmission. So I found one FA57A08. Some people say that the differences are gear rotation, other people that is the year build.

The Saab emblems need to be replaced occasionally because the top part will come off eventually. Protect the paint with tape or other material so you won't damage the paint. For best results, do this when the hood/bonnet and emblem are warm so the the adhesive will let go easier.
